My I140 was applied in August '08 by the company's lawyer and the company then changed the law firm. Employer & I signed the transfer form and the new Lawyer requested for all the I140 related documents from previous legal. The previous legal has not provided the I140 receipt notice or any status so far.
Now, the new legal is suggesting that the only option we have is to apply for new I140 and request to transfer the previous I140. Not to mention, this lawyer is expensive and I have to pay the fees. It’s strange that they can request for transfer of I140, but cannot ask for the receipt number from USCIS.
Employer is certain that the I140 was applied by previous legal as the check issued for I140 application has been cashed by USCIS.
This is the fist time I am hearing that a lawyer is refusing to provide the information of 140 to sponsering employer. This is ridiculous. I-140 is employer's property and lawyer is working for employer. I guess, there is something else that you might not aware of. Got my GC during September and my sponsor couldnt find a job right now. He is saying, they are going to revoke I-140?. Is this normal?. Will it affect me in any way?. Thanks.
Find Job before they terminate you. Did you had the job when the I-485 was approved? That is what matters.

Success story??? Dude, the story is incomplete until one gets his/her GC :)
Now a days we are most worried about getting receipts rather than GC. With this volume of applications, getting checks cleared/receipts it self taking 3-4 months.
That's whay every step of GC process we need to celebrate. Of course 485 approval is kind of grand celebration.

Step 6 : FBI Name Check Cleared(it might fall under Milestone)

If you and others were doing enough for the campaign, we probably wouldn't need so many threads to get the message out. But we haven't got the required response, which means a louder message is needed.

One other process that is almost as frustrating (if not more) as the GC process is the unpredictability of the visitor visas at consulates.
My parents have made multiple 'pilgrimages' to the Chennai US consulate for a visitor visa and are yet to get an approval. This has turned into an annual ritual for them.
Well, not having any of their children based in India seems be working against them. But, can't they come up with a better system to ensure visitors return before their visa expires (maybe track it against the sponsor's H1), rather that merely rejecting visitor visas based on the whims of the consular officer?
Does anyone have any pointers to share that may help?

I am completing 6 yrs on H-1 in June. I have applied for 3 yr extension with the same company in march. I-140 is approved and 485 is pending. My lawyer said that there wont be any problem getting 3 yr extension.

Do you know, yesterday on UCTV, 9412 channel on Dish Network, broadcast a 1 hour program on Immigration Reform, they focussed on illegal immigration and their problems and how without them America cannot live.
They also mentioned how legal workers can add to the evergrowing probelm of "Unemployment among americans", and also how the H1s come for cheap salaries to US, besides all this, they said, jobs are getting outsources to third world, and how the same folks from these countries are also taking away their Jobs in US !.
Just replying to your comments below, unless you hit the nail on the head, you are not going to drill the nail into the hole. Wake up to the realities, no one is paranoid here, these are realities, if you are living in a dream world where GCs are given freely, it must be the football game, not in US immigration. Also, if the SON is desperate to stay here, he has to work for it too :D to be top notch. The whole process is messed up, some have son issues, some have spouse not able to work issues, some have several years of retro issues, so all of them are valid examples. So there is no need to focus on someone's son is getting older and graduating - US govt can always claim, they did not ask H1 folks to bring their whole family to US :-) and it is not their problem if someone's kid is turning 21. Let us all work towards getting the base class addressed instead of highlighting Derived Classes.,
If folks always think "we are beating a dead wood or a dying horse" then you already declared yourself a Looser !
I have seen many such paranoid posts (pardon me using this word, but it is apt) . It turns many viewers and subscribers away. Post the same matter in a gentle way and kindle up your viewers.

In my view, let's not beat a dying horse. There are far more simple and easy things, as outlined in the 'What are we fighting for?' to ask justice for.
Can you imagine when your dreams are coming true, your life's hard work is shaping up, say your son is 18 and your GC is in process. He is in university here in US. Within 3 years if you don't get GC, he crosses 21 and his GC is delayed and sidelined. It is issues like these that we must fight for. This may not be a common case, but a very valid alleviation to fight for.

If your employer is smart enough, he might have not given any hint of job code and job description on which your labor was filed...
He is dumb to threaten, if you know job code and description...he can't do any thing except saying bye bye and good reference letter!
On a safer side, Make sure you have a copy of labor though it is not required for AC21 (if you don't have labor copy,then use information act and get those docs from USCIS..many people did...do a little search on the forums)

Can senior members update us on what the strategy is ? I strongly believe that if we go to the route of worrying with the idea that opponents of bills will spy on us, that is not going to bring benefit to us and we may end up losing communication as a group. Things don't work like that way. Even NumbersUSA, Laraza, etc publish their action plan all the time way in advance. There is nothing to hide, especially because people out there know very well what we want. In my opinion it is better that they know it because it is fair and logic.
Honestly things don't look good out there. An enforcement type of bill is about to be approved in Congress. For the next year our fate will be tailored to:
1. Who loses the elections. If a high percentage of pro amnesty or pro SKIL bill incumbents lose, we can find ourselves in a bad shape. Chances:60%
2. If another - God forbidden - terrorist attack occurs, then we are in the deepest s* imaginable.
We can't control either of situation above, I am just saying that we should use every single minute and chance, because the situation may get worse befores it gets better.

Isn't it the job of the lawyer to review the resumes submitted and build a case to say why you are the best fit for this position? I am sure that's what the DOLis looking for as well - i.e. that the companies are following the protocol of advertising the position correctly and reviewing the resumes of candidates who apply. I think it will be a red flag if you don't show any resumes at this time esp. when the unemployment is so high as opposed to showing other resumes submitted.
Rule of thumb, lawyers are not supposed to be part of recruitment process, it should be the job of HR. Lwayer can advise based on evaluation completed by HR.:mad:

Is this not let down of expectations set by USCICS to its customers?
Is there no legal recourse possible? Is there any precedent to this? Is it possible to rally funds to start a class action lawsuit against USCIS?

I am not sure why you dont want to use EAD. You have paid them for it right? Also your I140 is approved, so it should work out.
